5/6 Science Club   Mrs. Kruckenberg will be the advisor for the 5/6 Science Club.  Space is limited to the first 25 students that are sure they are attending and sign-up on the yellow clipboard by the breaksfast ares in the 5/6 hallway.  See your science teacher for permission slips and turn them in to Mrs. Kruckenberg.

5/6 Helping Hands Club –   Mrs. Fogle will be the advisor for the Helping Hands Club.  This club will allow student to learn about ways to help their school and community by choosing various projects to participate in at the school.  The club will meet every other Tuesday in room 5B from 3:35-4:30. 
Meeting dates:   12/13, 1/10, 1/24, 2/7, 2/21, 3/7, 3/21, 4/11, 4/25, 5/9

5/6 Quiz Bowl -   Mrs. Kruckenberg and Mrs. Seibert will be the advisors for the 5/6 Quiz Bowl teams.  Practices will be held every Thursday from 7:30am – 8:30am in room 93.  (November practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursday before our competition in December.)

5/6 Arts & Crafts Club - Mrs. Thompson will be the advisor for the 5/6 Arts & Crafts Club.  The group will be limited to no more than 25 students.  You will be meeting monthly to work on projects such as weaving, jewelry making, or sewing.  Meetings will be held on Mondays from 3:30-4:30.  Permission slips must be turned in by 10/3

 5/6 Flight Club (Yearbook Staff):  Mrs. Thompson will be the advisor for the 5/6 Yearbook Staff Club.  The students will be expected to sign up to take even photos (yearbook provides digital cameras), follow through on anything they sign up for, attend meetings, and participate in proof-reading layouts before they are sent to the publishing company.    Meetings are held from 3:30 – 4:30 in room 118.   Applications must be turned in by 10/3.

Ongoing Programs:


The library will recycle your used printer ink cartridges.  Just bring the empty cartridge to the library and place it in the green receptacle inside the library door.  All proceeds from this program will benefit the library and the programs that is sponsors.
Box Top Contest Information
Place your neatly trimmed box tops in groups of 10 in a baggie with your FULL name on it and turn it in to your first hour teacher for a chance to win a donut or a pizza party.          Every month a winner is announced.     
Cell Phones for Soldiers
Every year the National Junior Honor Society ships care packages to local servicemen. To help cover the cost we recycle cell phones and collect hotel samples. There are boxes in the lobby if you would like to contribute.

op Can Tabs 
NJHS collects pop can tabs to help those families who stay at the Ronald McDonald House while a loved one under goes special treatment at the local Childrens Hospital.  Please fill a small sandwich bag with tabs and place your FULL name on it so we can include you in our monthly drawings for McDonald Gift Certificates.  Grades 5-6 have a drop box in their hallway next to the Box Top box and grades 7-8 have their drop box in the main lobby.

Half Day Dismissal Times
Dismissal times for our half day of school will be:

     5th and 6th grade:  11:40
     7th and 8th grade:  10:23     

Weather/School Delay

If it becomes necessary to have a school delay, we will begin school at approximately 10:40 am (providing it is a 2 hour delay).  Sixth grade students will start with their homeroom teacher for attendance and then dismissed to the teacher they would have at that particular time.  Fifth grade students will go to their normal classroom.  **There will be no band class for any 5th/6th grade student who is in band on the day of the delay.  Please make sure your correct phone number is provided to the office to enable you to get the Honeywell Instant Alert messages in case of weather delays or closings.
